From Wander to Wonder:
Adventure Integration therapy
Are you planning an adventure or expedition that will challenge you - or just back from one?
Those hard-to-put-into-words moments deserve space to be processed. Together we can make meaning, explore what success and failure mean to you, how to build mental toughness, the values that drive you, your emotional strengths and struggles, and the lessons you’ve taken from training or the adventure itself. We can look at grief if it’s there, the feelings that arise when it’s all over (post-expedition blues perhaps?), and what comes next.
Do any of these thoughts feel familiar? “I trained for months and now it’s over, I feel flat”, “I came home and no one understands what it was really like”, “I failed at my goal and can’t stop thinking about it”, “I never thought I could do that - I don’t know who I am and what to aspire to now”, “Why do I chase mountains?”.
I would be happy to support you in preparing for, or processing, the experiences you’ve had on your adventures. By adventure I mean anything - big or small- that has challenged you physically and mentally. It could be your first trek, a 7000m peak, running a marathon, summitting Ben Nevis, completing your climbing project, or anything else.
I’m not a personal trainer or coach, but I do have lived experience of going on adventures. I can help you reflect on what drives you, which values and parts of yourself show up during a challenge, how to nurture your mental resilience, how to process both grief and joy, and what failure and success mean to you. Together, we can explore your sense of identity, purpose, and self-esteem, and anything connected to stepping outside your comfort zone and experiencing something that has the potential to change how you see yourself and the world.
